The I. UNeECC Student Workshop was a huge success

UNeECC held its I. Student Workshop at the University of Pécs in Hungary between 23-25 April 2009. The students who attended the workshop arrived from the past, present and future European Capital of Culture cities such as Cracow, Lille, Avignon, Antwerp, Liverpool, Sibiu, Vilnius, Lisbon, Maribor and Pécs. The official opening of the Workshop was held by Professor Ferenc Farkas, Vice-Rector of University of Pécs, Péter Fülöp, President of the Student Association at the Faculty of Law of the University of Pécs and Mrs. Gyöngyi Pozsgai, Secretary General of UNeECC. The purpose of this workshop was to create a student network among the member universities , to set up UNeECC Task Force Groups and to elaborate ideas for UNeECC student events. The students also exchanged experiences about their European Capital of Culture year and gained a possibility to get to know each others’ Student Associations. During the workshop the participants all agreed on that university students have to contribute to the success of the European Capital of Culture program years. The active student involvement in UNeECC is a great opportunity for these students to share their experiences and organize international student programs.
In order to realise that emerged during the I. UNeECC Student Workshop, the particinpants have worked out project plans that will be presented on the UNeECC Generaly Assembly  in Vilnius on 22 October 2009.
